Grovsnus - The Coarse Snus

Grovsnus is nr 3 in size among the snus brands in Sweden. This coarse snus has it's origin from 19th century Norrland (northern parts of Sweden), were it was first made. Eventually coarse snus was also made in the southern parts of Sweden. In the former century the tobacco company AB Eric Mellgren & Son in Gothenburg made a snus that they called Grovt Snus (coarse snus).

A contemporary manufactor of coarse-grained snus Willhelm Hellgren, had his operation on Götgatan in Stockholm. It's from his production that todays version of grovsnus has it's origin. Hellgren was also the biggest rival to the founder of Ettan snus Jacob Fredrik Ljunglöf, that had his factory on Drottninggatan in Stockholm.

Through different reforms and developments grovsnus has become an established and traditional snusbrand, instead of just a snus kind.

Grovsnus loose has been a registered snusbrand since 1915. Grovsnus portion was launched in 1983, Grovsnus White in 2003 and Grovsnus Maxi in 2004. Grovsnus Maxi has been taken of the market.

The typical user of Grovsnus is a man – yes, almost definitely a man – usually one that works outside, and on his sparetime likes to be active. It can be anything from working on the house, fishing or climbing. This was a few years ago, the majority of grovsnus users are still male, but more and more women have started to use grovsnus.

Grovsnus has a rich tobacco flavour. The loose snus has a special coarse character, which sets it apart from the other fine grained snus brands on the market.

Grovsnus Black Portion

Robust and well rounded strong black portion snus. With a powerful tobacco flavour, and hits of vanilla, lether and anise. Black portion is as dry as the white portion snus.
