GrovsnusA course grind and a pure tobacco flavor make Grovsnus the snus of choice for those wanting a robust taste and lip feel. Coarse ground snus originated in the 1800s in Norrland, but the special recipe for Grovsnus, developed by Willhelm Hellgren in his factory at Götgatan in Stockholm, became a favorite all over the country.Willhelm Hellgren began his career in the offices of Aspelins tobaksfabrik, another tobacco business in Stockholm. While there, he learned the ins and outs of running a successful tobacco company. In 1840 he founded W:m Hellgren & Co. which quickly grew to become the third largest manufacturer in the country with its own tobacco stores in the city center and Södermalm on Stockholm’s southside. It is the original recipe for pure, coarse ground snus invented by Willhelm Hellgren that is the foundation of today’s Grovsnus. In 1915, Grovsnus Lös (Loose) became a registered brand. Grovsnus Original Portion was introduced in 1983, followed ten years later by Grovsnus White Portion. The most recent addition to the family, Grovsnus Svart Portion, came in 2008 with tones of vanilla, leather and anise.
