Nick and Johnny Snus - Powerful
Nick & Johnny Black Portion Snus - coming soon!
Introduced in September of 2009 and manufactured in Kungälv, Sweden by Swedish Match AB, Nick & Johnny Black portion snus is the newest addition to the Nick & Johnny line of Sterk snus. Nick & Johnny Black is classified as a White type, black portion. If you’ve read our other reviews of White type, black portions you’ll remember that White type portions do not go thru the additional wetting process at the end of manufacturing that adds a bit more moisture to the material prior to being placed in the can that regular types do and black portion means that the material is colored black. While the material in White type portions is a bit dryer than regular type portions, Swedish Match uses the same soft, black teabag type material that they use in all their portions and is as comfortable in the lip for as long as the flavor lasts which is about 2 hours. Swedish Match also did 2 things to make Nick & Johnny Black special and the first thing you already know, they made the portions black but the other thing they did is to place the portions in the unique “Star” pattern that they reserve for only the most special of snus. The “Star” pattern also does another thing to the portions; it shapes them into a wedge which also adds to the comfort in the lip. Each can of Nick & Johnny Black has 24, one gram portions with each having 11 mg of Nicotine. Nick & Johnny Black’s can is made of pearlescent white plastic with a black and gold label and the iconic portrait of either Nick or Johnny on the cap of the used portion compartment but, you came here for the flavor, not the can so, let’s take a look!

Swedish Match has described Nick & Johnny Black as having the same flavor as it’s sibling Nick & Johnny Stark but, we think there are subtle differenced that make them each unique in their own rite. What we taste are the flavors of bergamot, which is a cross between a lemon and a grapefruit, and salt with the earthy, peaty taste of the hand selected tobaccos, from all corners of the globe, in the background. Where Nick & Johnny Sterk have the tobacco flavor in the lead, Black is in the background and gives it a well blended flavor but, this is what we think.
Unfortunately, at the time of writing this review, Nick & Johnny Black is currently only available in Norway but, the hope is that it will be available to all snus lovers eventually and when it is, we’d love to hear what you think!
Information
Nick and Johnny Original was first released in Norway in 2006, were it became popular very fast. About a year later it was launched in Sweden. Nick and Johnny contains about 40% more nicotine then traditional snus products, Nick and Johnny was made with smokers in mind, Swedish Match wanted to make a stronger snus as an alternative to cigarettes. The result was a snus with an extra kick.

Nick and Johnny East and West
The new Nick and Johnny was launched in two flavours, East and West, and have a totally new can design. The target group for this product was men that use snus or that smoke. And for the first time since 1967 the can is rectangular and not round. The can shape was inspired by classic american car hoods.
When the round snus can was introduced, it was a big sensation for swedish snus users. Now about 40 years later is a new can design a reality, it's launched as a snus can for men. The Nick and Johnny can looks a bit like a cellphone and combines angularity with rounded contours.
Both East and West have full and intensive flavours, but the tastes are very different. Nick and Johnny East is a spicy snus with an oriental touch, with cardamom and citrus flavour. Nick and Johnny West on the otherhand is a peppery snus with elements of fresh citrus. Nick and Johnny East doesn't compare to any other snus on the market, and West has a more traditional and classic snus flavour.
Both the Nick and Johnny East and the West can contains 20 white portions. The east and west portions are moistened in a way that makes less snuswater seep into your mouth, and the snus keeps it's flavour longer, but the moist level is the same as in regular portions. Launched in 2008.

Portion snus with an oriental touch that doesn't compare to any other snus on the market. It's a full tobacco flavoured snus with spicy elements of cardamom and citrus. Launched in 2008.
