Go back Our Göteborgs Rapé, Loose ReviewGöteborgs Rapé loose snus is a coarse ground snus made by Swedish Match in Gothenburg, Sweden. Göteborg’s Rapé loose’s grind is classified as a fine type meaning that the tobacco pieces are a bit smaller than the medium grind type. This leaves the surface area of each piece smaller and a little harder to hand mold into a prilla. Also, finer ground snus tends to hold a prilla’s shape longer if you use a tool to shape it. The prilla we tested was made with a 3 ml tool and kept its shape for about 2 hours before it began to fall apart. A hand shaped prilla lasted for about 1 ½ hours but the flavor lasted just as long with no signs of stopping! Each can of Göteborg’s Rapé 48 grams of snus and a Nicotine content of 8 mg per gram. The can is made of the same paperboard that Swedish Match uses for all its loose snus with a thin layer of food grade paraffin wax to hold the moisture and flavors in. The lid is made from gold colored plastic and seals well with the bottom but, you’re here for the flavor, not the can so, on to the flavor! Göteborg’s Rapé loose’s flavor is quite distinct with its unique mix of full flavored tobaccos from around the world, salt and Juniper berries that gives the snus a slight sweetness! Juniper berries, as you may or may not know, are what give gin its distinct flavor but when used in snus, the flavor is lighter and gives off a subtle sweetness and a slight peppery taste. Sometimes, the Juniper in Göteborg’s Rapé is mistaken for citrus by those who don’t drink gin but we’ll let you decide which flavor you taste! ...Its funny.....5 years have gone by since my first Snus experience. Göteborgs Rapé was my second try next to Kronan being my first....out of the 17 cans I ordered, after 5 years, Kronan and Göteborgs Rapé are my favorites....Seems as if one could never get sick of the taste...

This is my favorite over all....
First 4 years I just used General lös, but over time I choosed this one for mine "all-occassion" snus... You just can't get sick of this taste... Even probe is nice to have to break the pattern once in a while! Hope your enjoy my tip!

This and skruf stark are my two favorites and each are unique unto themselves.This is not as strong as skruf but taste great and lasts a long while. Great for beginners looking to try a loose snus.

I would agree with krtownsend71 its not an every day snus because of the powerful taste, but dang its good and tasty. It will be my special occasion type. Like that cigar you save!

Wasn't a big fan of the white portions, but the lös is a lot better. The flavoring isn't as overwhelming here, and it's a nice change of pace from Skruf, Ettan, etc. Probably going to earn a semi-regular spot in the rotation.

Love this snus! The Juniper berries are prefectly accented with bergamot and a hint of lavender. Taste much like Earl Grey Tea. One of my favorites and a must have for Christmas.

Has the same juniper, herbal flavor that the Goteborgs Rape that the white portions have. With the loose though, there is more emphasis on the tobacco itself and I like the flavor better this way. I find it a little tougher to make a prilla with this snus than the more coarse ones, but it's not too bad with it. Anyway, it tastes great and it definitely a good overall los snus.

If you love gin you will love this snus. The juniper flavor is absolutely wonderful. Juniper is definitely an acquired taste, but once you acquire it, you will begin to crave it. Forms easily and feels great in the mouth. Excellent snus.

Vincent is right - it's an acquired taste. Very heavily flavoured - and the juniper is very much like a gin taste. I loved it to start with - but it is just a bit too much for my tastebuds. However - if you like a bold flavour then this could very well be for you!

It seems some people really like Göteborgs Rapé. I think it's according to regional taste but that's a guess. Seems that either you really really like Göteborgs Rapé or you extremely don't like it. I am in the later group
