Go back Our Gotland Yellow, Loose ReviewLaunched in 2008 and made by Gotlandssnus AB on the Island of Gotland, Sweden, Gotlandssnus Original loose or Gotland’s Yellow (Gul) loose, as it’s more commonly known, is classified as a coarse ground snus which means that the tobacco pieces are a bit larger than the fine grind type. This leaves the surface area of each piece larger and easier to mold into a prilla. Also, coarser ground snus tends to hold a prilla’s shape longer no matter if you use a tool or hand mold it. The first prilla we tested was made with a 3 ml tool and kept its shape for over 2 hours while the hand shaped prilla lasted a little less than 2 hours before it began to fall apart but the flavor could have lasted much longer! Each can of Gotlandssnus Original loose contains 45 grams of snus with a Nicotine content of 9 mg per gram. Gotlandssnus also uses a variety of tobacco from around the world to produce Gotland’s Original including Alida tobacco that’s actually grown on the island of Gotland, Sweden where Original is made. The can that Gotlandssnus uses for Original is made of gray plastic with a plastic, snap-on lid which makes a great seal to keep it on when it’s in your pocket or bag! The label is a paper material and does not extend over the lid. It’s really not needed because the lid, when snapped down, is pretty secure but enough about the can, let’s go on to the flavor. Gotlandssnus Original’s flavor is actually pretty simple! By simple we mean only the great taste of well rounded tobacco, which has an earthy, peaty flavor along with a light, lemon/grapefruit (bergamot) flavor with a touch of pepper and salt. The flavor is pretty much the same as its portion sibling, just a bit lighter. Some people have noticed a slight herbal flavor but it’s actually the unique taste of the Alida tobacco coming thru! Even though we call it simple, it’s pretty unique in its own rite but we’ll let you decide! Exceptional quality for sure. Gotlands yellow is truly a pure tasting product. It doesn't smell like cat pee when you open the can like some that shall remain nameless. The flavor is complex, slightly lemon, true snus taste and a hint of something else that I fail be able to describe. It must be that Gotland grown tobak. I'm a lifelong Copenhagen snuff purist that switched to swedish snus in the last year. Typically I'd have snuff in my mouth at all times except when having a meal, yes sometimes I sleep with it. I'm used to the long lasting flavor of Copenhagen and sometimes forget about it (I don't spit) and have it in for a few hours, sometimes more. I have failed to find a snus with flavor that will last to suit me. That is until I found the Gotlands yellow. A durable long lasting flavor that stays tastey all the while and it comes in a high quality plastic can that's much sturdier than any others I've seen. I highly recommend this snus.

Gotlandsnus does no wrong. If you haven't tried this, I feel bad for your poor deprived tastebuds. Spicy, sweet, complex and delightfully simple.

Love the yellow but not such a big fan of the grey. the yellow however is a grade "A" snus with great long lasting flavor. While not as easy to hand bake as roda, i was still able to hand bake with little problem. Flavor lasts long and tastes great, nuff' said!

Gotland Loose is in a class to itself and yellow is my favorite Gotland snus. Gotland Loose is impossible to describe in words but I will try.
When is the last time you bought something with such a plain name as "yellow"? These days it's all about promotion and marketing. A few names that come to me are Phantom, Thunder, onyx, claq qui but this is Gotland Yellow. Just holding a can of Gotland loose tells you someone cared about it's quality when it was made. The "can" is high grade plastic with an air tight fitting lid but far from fancy. Then you notice that unlike the big name manufactors this can has 50 grams of snus, not just 45. When you open the can the quality is visible by the fluff of the tobacco. It almost seems like it was chopped and not ground. Then the aroma rolls from the can saying I am NOT lab created, mass produced chemical snus type product in a silly can. To be honest, Gotland is not my everyday snus. But I don't eat bread that my granny bakes everyday either. My everyday bread comes out of a twist tied bag with an expiration date stamped on it. Gotland Loose has a date on it too but it won't matter. Just like granny's home baked bread your can of Gotland Loose won't expire because it will be devoured. I don't work for or know those who make Gotland snus. In these days when "quality" is a cheap buzz word and profit is king my hat goes off to the makers of Gotland Snus.

I'm starting to think Gotland can do no wrong. Every new snus I try becomes a new favorite, and this is no exception. A little harder to bake than a Roda Lacket or Prima Fint, so break out the prismaster or icetool.

I Love Gotland Yellow Loose! This is my favorite 'classic flavored' snus. The most flavorful I've had in a while. The extra 5 grams of snus per can is a plus.

This is just a good old geniune tobacco product. I cannot imagine a more solid flavor. Great Product.

This brand is in my top 5 of all time for lossnus. I liked the gray lossnus from Gotland too. You can't go wrong with the Gul, great tobacco flavor.
