Our Odens Original Classic Loose Review

Introduced to the snus world in 2008 by Gajane, Oden’s Classic Original loose snus is classified as a coarse ground snus which means that the tobacco pieces are a bit larger than the fine grind type. This leaves the surface area of each piece larger and easier to mold into a prilla. Also, coarse ground snus tends to hold a prilla’s shape longer no matter if you use a tool or hand shape it. The prilla made with a 3 ml tool kept its shape for about 2 hours before it began to fall apart and the one we made by hand lasted about 1 ½ hours before it broke up but flavor felt like it could last much longer! Each can of Oden’s Classic Original contains 45 grams of snus and a Nicotine content of 8 mg per gram. The can is made of black plastic, both bottom and top, and makes a great seal that doesn’t accidently pop open when in your pocket but you came here to read about the taste not the can so, let’s talk flavors! Oden’s Classic Original has a flavor that is pretty unique in the fact that it is one of the few pure tobacco flavored snus brands that’s flavor is just that, pure tobacco! The other unique thing is that the tobacco is on the sweet side. While Gajane doesn’t add a sweetener to the snus to get it, it comes from the types of tobacco used. What we taste is a great blend of mild tobaccos that have an earthly, herbal taste with a hint of salt. The salt helps to bring out the earthy flavors and also gives it a subtle sweetness. Overall, we think that Oden’s Classic Original is a great mild tasting, pure tobacco flavored snus but, this is what we taste in Oden’s Classic Original; we want to know what you taste. Having wrestled with nicotine dependency for most of my life, I was grateful to discover Snus a couple of years ago. I've tried many of the varieties and found Oden's Classic Original to be my absolute favorite. I prefer pure tobacco over the flavored varieties, but am a bit blown away and very impressed with the range of herbs, fruits, and spices incorporated into European snus. It leaves me suspicious that we Americans might be aesthetically challenged in this regard.

Very neutral flavour. No explosions of taste, which means it is good for everyday use and/or use between other ones with stronger flavours and you you not have to be afraid of getting tired of this particular snus.

Good for times when you drink, because it does not spoil/change the taste of the drink.

Should be the same cut as Oden´s Kanel, but it seems to be much easier to bake for some reason.

Salt content is stated to be 5%, but, amazingly, it does not feel salty at all.
