Our Phantom/Rothbrix Classic, Loose Review

Made in Silkeborg, Denmark by V2 Tobacco, Phantom Classic loose snus is classified as a coarse ground snus which means that the tobacco pieces are a bit larger than the fine grind type. This leaves the surface area of each piece larger and easier to mold into a prilla. Also, coarser ground snus tends to hold a prilla’s shape longer no matter if you use a tool or hand mold it. The first prilla we tested was made with a 3 ml tool and kept its shape for over 2 hours while the hand shaped prilla lasted a little less than 2 hours before it began to fall apart but the flavor could have lasted much longer! Each can of Phantom Classic loose contains 45 grams of snus with a Nicotine content of 8 mg per gram. The can is made of black plastic with the Phantom logo embossed in the glossy plastic lid but, enough about the can, let’s take a look at Classic loose’s flavor! Phantom Classic’s flavor is unique in the sense that unlike most of V2’s snus flavors, Phantom Classic has a relatively mild taste. V2 is pretty much known for their intense flavors but with Classic, the flavor is pretty mild tobacco and salt. The tobaccos that V2 uses in Phantom Classic give the snus an earthy, peaty taste and hints of herbs with a touch of sweetness. Even the saltiness that is common with Swedish snus is just a whisper in the background. Together, these flavors combine to make, what we feel, is a great starter loose snus for the new snus user looking for a tobacco flavored snus that’s not overpowering in taste and easy to mold but, we want to know what you think. I got a couple free cans of this on my last order. This is very good Snus! Holds together great and the flavor is delicious. Nice mild tobacco taste, slight sweetness with no bitterness at all. I will now have a Pris Master and a can of Rothbrix on me at all times.

Got a bunch of cans of this when I ordered the "soon to expire" deal, and man am I glad I got them. This is very quickly becoming a favorite. Holds together very well compared to some of the finer grinds. So much so that I'm able to use in lieu of my regular portions while at work or out and about outside the compound. The tobacco taste, while not mindblowing, is just fine, and not too overly salty. There's a hint of ammonia scent to a fresh can, but that seems to subside after soon after opening, and isn't really a detraction. All in all this is a fine every day snus, and the price only enhances its appeal. Unless I find a more suitable substitute, this meets my daily needs and then some. Definitely worth a try if you're looking for a reasonably priced plain tobacco flavored snus.

Not bad, it holds it's shape well, is easy to handbake, and the taste is good. Definitely worth trying. It's not a high-end snus, but it's not meant to be. It's a good every day loose snus with an adequate nic level. It's actually better than some of the higher end snuses, but costs about 35% less. Good, bargain snus!
