Go back Our Skruf Stark, Loose ReviewIntroduced in 2005 and made by Skruf AB in Sweden, Skruf Stark loose is classified as a loose (lös in Swedish) type snus with a fine grind which means that the tobacco is ground to very small pieces and a texture like you would find in wet powder. Since the snus is a finer grind than other loose snus, a handmade prilla is a bit harder to make and doesn’t last as long as the one made by a tool. During out testing, the handmade prilla lasted about an hour before falling apart while the tool made one lasted over two hours but, the flavor could last much longer. Each can of Skruf Stark loose contains 45 grams of snus with a Nicotine content of 10 mg per gram. Skruf Stark’s can is made from White plastic, both top and bottom with the signature clear plastic label. The lid makes a pretty tight seal with the bottom and doesn’t accidently pop off in your pocket but, you’re here for the flavor, not the can so, let’s take a look! Skruf Stark loose has the same flavor as its portion sibling just a bit mellower. The same flavor of quality, handpicked tobacco from all corners of the globe give Skruf Stark’s base flavor a mild, earthy taste while the bergamot, who’s flavor is a combination of lemon and grapefruit, and Rose Oil add an herbal freshness to the overall taste. The Rose Oil here is not as pronounced as it is in the portion version and is just a hint but like we said in the beginning, the flavors in Skruf Stark loose are milder than the portion version as well as being less saltier since the salt is needed in the portion version to help the Nicotine release where in the loose version, the tobacco is right up against your lip and not as much is needed. We think that snus users, new and experienced, will find Skruf Stark loose’s mild flavor and higher Nicotine content pleasing but, this is what we think, we want to know our thoughts! I used snus to quit smoking close to 3 years ago now. I've tried a lot of brands but always portion- mainly strong portions from General or Skruf as I like the salty taste.
However after about 2.5 yrs after quitting smoking/starting snus'ing I did begin to get tired of my old brands. So on my last order I purchased 3 cans of this as well as 3 can "tests" of some others and a roll of Claq Qui. I LOVE loose snus  This is the first loose one I've ever tried, I figured if I was going to try loose I had better go with a brand whose portion I like. They didn't let me down, that's for sure, in fact lifted me up- the nicotine hit from the portion Skruf Xtra Sterk I have doesn't even touch this  (of course I may be using rather large "portions"! b/c it's like x4)
Now I simply need to either get better at rolling by hand or get an ice pick... that and of course order some more of this!

I first started snus back in 2008, but was not successful in quitting smoking. I bought a Coca Cola fridge at Target and it's been sitting on my desk for over a year now with the old snus I never used. I started working out a few months ago, and have finally decided I have to quit smoking so I can ramp up my work outs. I dug out an old tin of Tre Ankare from the freezer, and it was still ok to use! I then checked out my little fridge, and pulled out a tin of Skruf stark loose. It expired June, 2009...one year ago! My ice tool was in there, so I cracked open the tin and to my surprise, the snus was moist, and smelled good. I gave it a shot...wow! Taste great, holds up nice in the lip, mellow, and strong nic hit.
I immediately came back here and fired off a couple of orders. Cut down smoking 80% (saving a lot of money), I feel better, and can't wait for my fresh orders to arrive!

As an American, this was my first strong snus...It was a good thing I was sitting on the couch when I tried it as I couldnt stand up it hit me so hard!!!!! I LOVE IT!!!!!Yahoooooooooooooo!!!!

Just received my first order of Skruf loose. Bye Bye Copenhagen! This is so much fresher and better tasting. It really satisfies the nicotine craving as well. I will never switch back to U.S. brand chewing tobacco! My order was received really quick as well and the product is sooooo fresh!! I couldn't be more pleased. Thank you Northerner, you've got a customer for life now!!

Maybe a little bit overrated. The can is pretty unattractive. Snus just average. Not my favourite.

I first started using portion-snus. I tried out a lös, but felt more comfortable with the portion, until I found the skruf stark lös. The nic-hit is not, as strong, as I expected, but not to underestimate. It's well balanced in taste, nic, low salt-taste and staying in form. I like it more than the skruf stark portion.
Sometimes I use this one for more than 3 hours (depends on the size). This is my everyday snus.

as an american, i always used dip and had to carry a bottle to spit in all the time and i thought that smokeless tobacco could never be better. then i bought this stuff and first time i tried it it knocked me on the floor! Im just glad i was not driving because i was too buzzed and would have crashed or something
but i love this snus stuff, a little different but i will do this instead of dip for now on!

I found a can in the bottom of the freezer had forgotten about it. Not having skruf for a few months I was reminded of how good this snus is.
RE:northerners review, whereby they state that making a prilla with an portioning tool make the prilla last longer than a handbaked prilla. I have found than when handbaking this snus if I really pack it hard then the prilla break up very quickly under the lip. However if I bake the snus a gentle as possible the prilla stays up for 2 to 3 hours.

Excellent strong, tasty snus with a great gentle mouthfeel. My all-round winner snus as it delivers in every aspect. Similar to Ettan in texture if not quite as smooth, stronger nic kick, good tobacco taste with pleasantly subtle flavouring. I love it.

I would have to say that this is at the top of my favourites list at the moment. Though a strong los, I don't get the massive kick that other strong los can give.

So far, my favorite los. Solid taste, not as flowery as the white portion. Nicotine is strong but doesn't hit me in the face right away.

To be honest, I am a through and through portion guy. However, this is one los that I do enjoy, and i enjoy it a lot. The nic hit is fast, and the flavor is subtle. As I am pretty much accustomed to the regular strength nicotine, I find myself baking a small pris. It fits real well and doesn't run too badly. A can of this in my rotation can last for a while. Its mild citrus and low salt just makes it easy to use.

I got my order this last Saturday, and I have to say I was pretty excited to try this one. It didn't let me down, it has a wonderful flavor, good buzz and it lasts. I love it, I think I found a new favorite.
