Go back Our Camel Original, Portion ReviewNot to be confused with the American Camel SNUS, Camel Original portion snus is manufactured by JTI Sweden AB. Camel Original is classified as a regular type portion which means that each portion goes thru an extra step in the manufacturing process that adds a bit more moisture to the portions before they go in the can. This bit of moisture helps the flavors in the snus marry together and release its flavor faster when it’s in your lip. The material that JTI uses in Camel Original is a soft, teabag like material that stays comfortable in the lip for about 2 hours. Each can contains 24, one gram portions with each having 8 mg of Nicotine. Camel Original’s can is made gold colored plastic with a hinged used portion compartment cap in the lid of the can that’s typical in most of JTI’s snus brands but, you’re here for the snus flavors, not the can so, let’s take a look at the taste! Camel Original’s flavor is a great mix of handpicked tobaccos from across the globe that gives it an earthy, herbal flavor which gives the portion a mild flavor with the slightest hint of bitter chocolate with a bit of pepper. The bergamot, which has a lemon-grapefruit taste, gives the overall flavor of Camel Original a fresh, well rounded taste. The intensity of the flavor is not as strong as one would expect from a regular type portion snus but this is not a bad thing. The light flavor lasted for almost 2 hours and we feel that Camel Original would be a great portion snus for the beginner and for the seasoned snus user that is looking for a snus with a lighter flavor but, this is our opinion; we’d like to hear yours! So, why not add a can or two of Camel Original portions snus to your next order and leave us a review letting us know what you think. We’ll be looking forward to reading it!

Reminds me a lot of General Ekstra Sterk, but with a bit more of a 'Turkish' flavour to it. Also packs a decent wallop of vitamin N and let's face it, the can looks awesome!

Awesome portion snus! Lemony salty goodness!! The only drawback is that it is a bit too wet.

Its interesting that Camel wouldn't dream of selling the crap they sell in america to anyone else.

Having finished a can of this I now see this snus is like General Portion but without the Pepper.

Good snus. I was a Camel brand smoker for over a decade so for some reason I feel a little loyalty to the brand and like others below was happy to see them do a legit snus and not the "candy" like snus that was released here in the US. Good everyday snus that will be in my regular rotation.

Hm.. Well it feels like a weaker shorter lasting version of general white portion, i would never buy this instead of general even if the taste is quite alike.

While it's completely different than the American version of Camel Snus, the bergamot flavor just didn't suit me. Others are sure to like it, as it's still much better than the awful "mellow" version Camel tries to pass off as snus in America.

I got some of this Snus with my bonus points. I have had now about 6 portions and it is comparable to many other Swedish Brands.
Its not bad. Its ok and I would buy more.

I have to agree with the limited reviews on this product. I was kind of excited to try it, being broken in to snus with the Americanized Camel variety, of which there is little good to say.
The number one thing that comes to mind with this snus is disappointment...that RJ Reynolds couldn't make a comparable product to JTI Sweden. Seriously, do some corporate sharing of some sort, get that crap in the US off the market and sell this stuff stateside! Now past my ramblings and onto the flavor. Depending on my mood, the bergamot flavors are either just in perfect balance with the tobacco, or are overpowering. These things taste like General minus the peppery undertones, pure bergamot and tobacco. It fits well under the lip, and the packaging is surprisingly not rough at all, and the can is rather impressive, a good mixture of old school simplicity and new school innovation, if you call a shiny ashtray lid with a hinge innovation. I kinda like the hinged tray lid, and noticed that it actually frosts up a little while in the fridge. "Since 1913" is printed on the label. Honestly, the flavor plus the can design can really lead one to belief that Camel has been in the closet making snus since 1913. It's exceptional, good quality snus, not as good as some of the top brands, but not to be underestimated or lumped in with "bargain" brands either. Try a can, you won't be mad at yourself (as I am anytime I see my old tins of US Camel snus).

First off, this is vastly superior to the Americanized version, but not for me. The taste was similar to Lucky Strike snus, except that it's bergamot flavor was more present than the tobacco, and was much more oily and moist. Isn't quite the taste I look for in snus, but it isn't a bad choice for anyone who would enjoy it.

Yikes! The Bergamot flavor is overpowering to me. All I taste is that & salt - no citrus. Too flowery for my tastes. I prefer Taboca over Camel as it has a milder bergamot flavor.

I have to admit that though I was skeptical at first, I really enjoyed this product. Having tried the American Camel SNUS, I was a little worried this product would be similar. It isn't. It turns out that the Camel brand name isn't owned exclusively by RJ Reynolds, which would explain the high quality of this snus. The portions are very moist and dark, tasty and the bergamot is excellent. It is comparable to something like a Nick and Johnny, just not as strong. The can is very nice, with the lid appearing almost metallic, though it is plastic. I give this snus five stars, because when it is compared with its North American counterpart, it is truly superior and deserves nothing less. A+
