Go back Our Oliver Twist, Original Review
werchado, 07/18/2010 17:56:48
I've enjoyed Oliver Twist for 25 years, and my only complaint is they got rid of the Sunberry flavor...have tried others, like the new Camel Snus, but have always come back.

Kevin's comments are right on. I'm not a snus user so I can't compare these tidbits to that. In my case, I found these original version morsels to be just about perfect. As Kevin said: "Tobacco but with a sweet, slightly fruity edge". I couldn't describe it better.
I like the fact that you can roll 'em around in your mouth and when you want a little bit more flavor you just give it a wee bit of a bite. You get a burst of licorice flavor followed by a lasting taste of tobacco. I quit smoking the Marlboro Nails after many years of "that" using these little jewels and I would recommend them to anyone that doesn't like the American version of "chew" but still wants the taste.

Chewing tobacco of this type is the only type of oral tobacco you can still legally buy in shops in the EU (outside of Sweden), so I picked a box up to see if it would be something I could use to tide me over if I ran out of snus.
When you get the can, the first thing you notice is that it's tiny. Popping the top off, the tobacco inside is vacuum-packed in plastic which you must rip open. The pieces themselves are also tiny; much smaller than a snus portion - smaller, even, than a tic tac. I suppose if you wanted a thoroughly undetectable tobacco product, then this could be it. As an aside, they look not unlike mouse droppings. You're meant to pop them in between your gum and cheek and leave it there - which I did. If you want a bit more flavour, you can give it a squeeze with your teeth. The flavour of the original is quite pleasant. Tobacco, yes, but with a sweet, slightly fruity edge to it. I'm not sure if I'll want any more. It was an interesting experiment, but it doesn't have the satisfaction content of a good snus or snuff. To leave a comment or review, press the button |
