Go back Our L.D Original Loose ReviewIntroduced in 2006 and made by JTI Tobacco in Sweden, LD Original loose is classified as a fine ground snus with a which means that the tobacco is ground to very small pieces and a texture like you would find in wet powder. Since the snus is a finer grind than other loose snus, a handmade prilla is a bit harder to make and doesn’t last as long as the one made by a tool. During out testing, the handmade prilla lasted about an hour and a half before falling apart while the tool made one lasted over two hours but, the flavor could last much longer in either case. Each can of LD Original loose contains 45 grams of snus with a Nicotine content of 8 mg per gram. LD Original loose’s can is made from black plastic, both top and bottom with a black and gold paper label. The lid also has the LD logo on it and makes a pretty tight seal with the bottom and doesn’t accidently pop off in your pocket but, you’re not here for the can, you’re here for the flavor so, let’s take a look! JTI describes LD Original as having a pure and rather mild tobacco flavor with hints of bergamot. What we taste is mild flavored tobacco along with bergamot as well but the strength of the tobacco flavor is pretty light. What we mean by light is that the flavor is pretty subtle for a loose snus. Typically, loose snus tends to have a more pronounced tobacco flavor and the citrus element is a background flavor. This is not necessarily a bad thing though. The flavors in LD Original are still of high quality tobaccos and bergamot, which has a flavor that’s a cross between a lemon and a grapefruit, with a hint of salt they’re just not as strong as you would think they would be. We think LD Original would be a great loose snus for beginners that want to start with a loose that has a subtle flavor and easy to hand bake or, long time snus users looking for a lighter tasting snus but, we’ll leave that decision up to you! I disagree with the original assement of this snus not handbaking well. I pinch LD right out of the can with no problem.
I enjoy this snus, tastes like general lite to me. It's very wet, and holds together longer than i need it to, when i spit it out the prilla is still lumped together With General I'd end up eating most of it towards the end. And it's cheap too...

[B][B][B]I first used LD original because of the price. I was told it tasted much like General and General Cost 15 Euro per can where I live. I tried it once and have been using it since then. It is nice flavor and very fine cut, I do swallow all my snuff juices and grains and this does not give me any heart burn even when I am running or doing other high cardo activities. [/B][/B][/B]

LD Loose is one of my favorites now and I have tried them all I think. I didn't think I would like it but tried it and it's great!

I wanted to chime in on this snus. I was skeptical at first after some bad experiences with cheaper brands, but L.D. won me over. It comes in an attractive plastic can (which I think keeps it moist longer). The snus has a slightly coarser cut than General, but it stays together well and lasts long. Great value and a quality product. This was my first experience with this snus and it will certainly not be my last.

When I first tried this, I agreed that it tasted similiar to General only cheaper in cost. I've gone through a couple cans. The longer in the mouth you can start to tell difference from General. This is more lemon, too much so compared to General which maintains its original great flavor until you are done. Not a bad snus but I've had my fill of it. For the extra buck or so, I'd rather have the General or another brand.

i feel the same way about LD as i do about Gustavus. It tastes just like general -- only cheaper. how can you lose? it's coarser too- which means it holds together in your mouth better, less chance of a 'mudslide'

This snus is great for beginners, it is cheap as far as price. i got a can of general and ended up wasting most of it trying to bake it, just to have every pris fall apart in my mouth. It is maybe a bit more moist than general, but that could have something to do with the plastic can. This snus is a great practice snus. It don't taste half bad neither.

Best snus for the money that I have tried. Very similar to general. I switched from US copenhagen for a safer choice. Love it!!! Awesome.

This has been my favorite for a little while now. It's got a taste of lemon and smoky leather. Nice fluffy feel. Sturdy, handsome can. Nothing cheap about it but the price.

L.D Original loose is kind of like general loose but not really. On a budget? get some L.D Original loose, dump it in an empty general loose can. Can others tell the difference? I bet most would not say anything. Would they notice? Maybe some would.
