Our Lucky Strike, White Portion Review

Lucky Strike White portion is a snus that was introduced in 2006 and made by the folks at Fielder and Lundgren, in Sweden. Lucky Strike White is classed as a White portion snus which means that it does not go thru the extra wetting step before being put in the can. The material used in Lucky Strike White is the typical material that’s used in most white portion snus and is pretty comfortable in the lip for up to 2 hours. Each can of Lucky Strike White has 24, .8 gram portions with 8 mg of Nicotine each. There are a few things that make Lucky Strike White unique within the white portion line though! The first thing is the fact that the tobacco in Lucky Strike is “Toasted”! This gives the snus a smoky background flavor. While the main flavor is well balanced tobacco, there are subtle hints of Bergamot (a Lemon/Grapefruit type flavor) and salt which, together with the smoky element from the toasting, give Lucky Strike White its unique flavor. Another unique thing is that the snus in Lucky Strike White has less moisture that most white portion snus yet still remains comfortable in the lip! The final unique thing is the can it’s self! Lucky Strike White is packaged in a special can that’s made up of a plastic bottom and a rubberized metal lid. Inside the lid is a plastic inner lid that, when combined with the plastic bottom, creates a seal that helps keep the snus fresher, longer! And don’t worry, there’s a used portion compartment but not where you would expect it to be, it’s actually in the bottom of the can! So why not give a can of Lucky Strike White portion snus a try and let us know what you think by leaving a review of your own! We look forward to reading it.

Went fr om smoking their cigarettes to this, and just wow...i thought their smokes were great, but this taste blew them right of 1st place.

First the container.
The top-piece:
Metal on the outside with black plastic inside where you can spot the LS-logo carved out. Pretty thick piece. Could probably withstand a thermonuclear war.

Bottom:
Have been told it were metal way back, but its now plastic.
Not as sturdy as metal, but its thick and round bottom edge which make it firm enough. Nothing fancy with the bottom really.
Underneath there is a used snus-cover, wh ere you can fit around 6 used portions. Dunno if this is worldwide, but that cover have different funny names here printed on them in Sweden.

The snus itself:
Great smoky taste, after a while (30 min for me) it tends to start "dripping", but thats not a bad thing imo, it gets a slight taste of salmiak/licorice by that time. Combined with beer it tastes even better, then it gets a salty taste to it too.

A must-try, at least one can sometime in live.

This snus is my all time favorite brand/taste profile ever. It really has a flavor that is totally unique to LS. The toasted flavor comes through beautifully. It really does taste like the tobacco was roasted just hours before it was opened, although I cant really describe the flavor, you just have to try it. That is if you live outside of the US and as a result miles away fr om the influence of the despicable RJReynolds and their petty little fits over a brand they do nothing to promote (given the historic nature of the LS name I would be making this my flagship product.)but obviously will stop at nothing to keep anyone else from using. smile:evil:

Oh well, if you like pure tobacco taste, do yourself a favor and try this one, if nothing else for those of us who cannot get it and would give our left arms to have just one more bloody can. smile:cry:

I would be willing to pay someone, buy them some Swedish snus, or send them something they cant get wh ere they live to act as a private middle man between northerner and myself so I could get my hands on my favorite brand again. Help a guy out :P email is this screen name at hotmail

My first order contained luckys orignal portion, i gave up smoking on the 1st of jan and havent looked back, but i have been really dissapointed by there snus tend to find it dull and flavourless but the worst thing is the dripping i can have a general or Gotes Rape in for 2 hours plus has anyone elese had this problem or is it just me? I have ordered some luckys white to tryout now as i was a huge fan of their ciggarettes, looking forward to experienced snusers opinon! smile:D

Some time ago I must have gotten a tin of white in error and I have wanted more ever since. I wondered about the brand complications. Too bad these defunct brands can't be used by others. Are the cigs even made here anymore?

Well, I have the tin which must be quite the colletor's item here in the U. S. now. I can only hope this situation can be solved one day. smile:cry:

I really like this snus but I'm wondering why it works out so much more expensive than original or bold portions by lucky? The white portion is more expensive and a smaller portion, why the difference?

Horseshit! This is my 2nd favorite snus, and now I can't get it stateside?? What kind of crap is that?? It's a solid white portion, and a good overall value, but I guess it's a moot point since I can't get it here.

Lucky Strike White was the first snus I tried, and it is one of my favorites! The can is elegant and simple, and is a thing of beauty! The snus itself has a very subtle taste, with only a hint of tobacco taste. It produces very little drip, and I am generally able to keep it in for about 45 minutues before it juices too much.

After trying a few other brands, Lucky is now my preferred one, and sees day to day use. Highly recommended!

My favorite brand of cigarettes are Lucky Strikes so this snus was a must try for me. The flavor isn't too strong, but sometimes that's what I'm in the mood for. The famous toasted flavor from Lucky Strike cigarettes was not too noticeable which is sort of a bummer, but the snus itself is worth getting. The can that the snus comes in is awesome. For the price and taste it's a good snus to use often, for this I gave it a 4 out of 5 stars.
SSgtTrav, 03/26/2009 07:03:23
Nicest can in the business. The flavor is also very good. I don't even know how to describe it. It's close to tasting like Claq Qui with a smokey flavor and somewhere in there is a hint of citrus. This is a roll worthy snus. 5 stars

Lucky Strike snus was the first Swedish variety I tried, having only had Camel snus before that. While Luckies were infinitely better than Camels, I've since decided that the flavor isn't as appealing as other comparably-priced snus, like General. The "toasted" flavor wasn't that noticeable to me, but overall I'd still say it's pleasant.

It does have some of the most visually-pleasing packaging I've seen, however. The Lucky Strike logo is iconic, and the matte-finished metal tin is worth keeping even when the snus is gone. My only complaint for the packaging is that it doesn't come with the convenient "ashtray" lid, for disposing of used snus.
carotevi, 03/23/2009 09:24:24
Lucky Strike White Portion are good. Not anything great but you won't think they are bad.

BUT it's worth buying at least one just to get one of the cans smile:D If snus was rated on how cool the can was this one would get 6 out of 5 stars.
kevtufc, 02/18/2009 22:32:16
If you're coming from cigarettes Lucky Strike snus is always a draw, if only because it's a brand you know.

I'll start with the can, because it's one of the best ones out there. From the outside, it's a thing of beauty. A great design and it's a sort of rubbery-coating over metal. It feels good and solid in your hand. Inside it's plastic and it's got the nice touch of a foil seal - to keep the snus extra-fresh inside.

The snus itself has a nice taste. They've obviously tried to carry over the famous flavour of their cigarettes, and succeeded. But not stupidly. There's a smoky taste, but it's a snus taste, not a cigarette taste; clean and bright.

I've not tried the original portions, but apparently, if you want to try Luckies, then the whites are the way to go. And I can only recommend it.
