Together with its skillful designers Orrefors presents a new collection of glass every spring and autumn. These glass articles are manufactured in an unlimited edition. Orrefors art glass is always produced in limited editions. Our artists are free to develop techniques and ways of expression as they please. ORREFORS KOSTA BODA AB The Swedish glass group consists of four glass factories situated in Glasriket, Småland. The factories have an exciting history - Kosta was founded in 1742 and Orrefors 1898 - but today they are modern, ISO-certified workplaces for over 950 people. The group sells artistic glass of unique design produced by qualified craftsmen under the two famous brands of Orrefors and Kosta Boda. Besides the four factories - Orrefors, Kosta, Boda and Åfors - the glass factory SEA is also included but has its own trademark just like Glasma AB, which is a technical subsidary company supplying the home market with raw material. Orrefors and Kosta Boda run a large tourist business at their factories in Småland. Twenty known designers work with a wide selection of designed glass such as drink and plate sets, vases and bowls. The artistic glass is continuously sold and displayed at galleries and museums around the world, often in the presence of the artist himself Orrefors' group of artists consists of Lena Bergström, Lars Hellsten, Jan Johansson, Helén Krantz, Erika Lagerbielke, Malin Lindahl, Martti Rytkönen, Ingegerd Råman and Per B. Sundberg. Working within Kosta Boda are the eleven artists Monica Backström, Olle Brozén, Anna Ehrner, Kjell Engman, Ulrica Hydman-Vallien, Anne Nilsson, Gunnel Sahlin, Bertil Vallien, Ann Wåhlström, Göran Wärff and Malin Lundmark. The designing process is in noticeably close connection with both the production and the market itself, a characteristic historical feature of the famous Swedish art industry, where artistry, crafting skills, as well as technical advances and exhibition activity interact hand in hand. Magnus Andersson is the executive director of Orrefors Kosta Boda. Since 1 June 2005, Orrefors Kosta Boda AB is a part of the New Wave Group, a corporate development company that creates, acquires and develops brand products for the profiling and consumer markets. The group’s primary operations are in the garment, accessory and gift sectors. New Wave is established in 15 countries through its subsidiaries, and 55% of its sales take place outside of Sweden. New Wave’s competitive edge is its good products, strong brands, extensive knowledge and service, and a well-developed total concept.
