Replica of a real European crystal ball from the Medieval Period with ceramic pedestal. Crystal ball: a ball made of clear glass which is used by fortunetellers, who claim that they can see things that are going to happen in the future when they look into it. There have allways been fortunetellers in history. Religious sciences tell us for example about Apollon´s oracel priestess Pythia. A sign of our belief in fortune telling in modern time can be related to the popularity of the horoscopes in the press. Medieval Period in Central Europe was approximately between AD 500-1500 and in Scandinavia AD 1050-1500.
This crystal ball is produced by hand with the same techniques they used for 500-600 years ago, which means that the size and thickness of the glasses may vary slightly. The color of the glass may also vary as well as the number of small bubbles inside the glass. The glassworks, which make the History Glasses, is one of the best of its kind in the world.
