Hump Glass with King Gustav II
AD 1600, Sweden and Germany
Replica of a glass which have been found at excavations in Sweden and Germany. Dated back to the 17th century. Motif shows the Swedish King Gustav II (1594-1632). The king became known for his invention of the effective two-flank war method. He won many victories in Denmark, Poland, Russia and Germany. Through the victories in the 30-year war against the catholic Austrian Emperor he expanded the Swedish territory to northern Germany. Through this victory he became known as the protector of the protestantism. He died in the battle of Lützen in Germany 1632. After his death Sweden developed to be one of Europes Great Powers. It´s produced by hand with the same techniques they used for 400 years ago, which means that the size and thickness of the glasses may vary slightly. The color of the glass may also vary as well as the number of small bubbles inside the glass. The glassworks, which make the History Glasses, is one of the best of its kind in the world.
