Roman Ring, Gold/Silver, (AD 200-400)

Reduplicate of jewelry from the Roman Iron Age found at excavations in Hogasen (Vastergotland, Southeast Sweden). It was probably imported to Sweden from the Roman Empire. The item weighs about 13.8 g (0.486 oz.). The jewelry is enclosed inside a beautiful decorated wooden box. The original jewelry was made out of gold. Roman Jewelry is the generic term for a collection of jewel copies in precious metal produced in collaboration with The National Museum of Archeology in Stockholm. The jewels are made through casts of the originals. The Roman Empire: approx. BC 475-AD 476 with dictators or emperors such as Caesar BC 100-44, Augustus BC 63- AD 14 and Constantin The Great AD 280-337. Included at its peak; Italy, France, Belgium, parts of Holland, parts of Germany, Spain, Portugal, England, Switzerland, Austria, Romania, Bulgaria, Turkey, parts of North Africa and parts of The Middle East and Russia.
