Go back Our General, Mini Portion ReviewIntroduced in 1989 and made by Swedish Match, General Mini portion is classified as a Mini type portion which, as you may remember, means that the portions go thru a final step in the manufacturing process that adds a bit more moisture to each one. This additional moisture aids the flavors to marry and release it faster once it’s in your lip. The material that Swedish Match uses for General Mini is the same soft material they use with all their portions and is pretty comfortable in the lip for as long as the flavor lasts which is for a little over an hour. Each can of General Mini contains 20 portions that have about .5 grams of snus each with a Nicotine content of 4 mg per portion. General Mini’s can is a shorter version of the regular type General which is made of black plastic and yes, there is a used portion compartment in the lid! Now that you know the basics, let’s get into the flavor! General Mini’s flavor is basically a mini version of its larger sized sibling with the flavors of hand selected tobaccos from around the world, lemon zest and a bit of black pepper and salt. The tobacco flavor is center stage and gives General Mini an earthy, peaty taste with the salt helping to enhance it. The lemon and pepper flavors are subtle hints in the background and help to bring the flavors together. We think that General Maxi would be a great snus for the snus user that wants the full flavor of General in a smaller, more discreet portion but, this is our take, we want to hear yours! I normally go for a strong portion snus, General Onyx being my favorite. I frequently leave one in for hours at a time, without anyone at work noticing. However, every once in a while, if I’m not drinking water frequently my teeth may get a little brown juice on them. This is NOT good when you work in sales
 That’s where mini portions come in. Although a regular portion isn’t noticeable under my lip (I have a beard, little advantage there), if I’m on a sales call, I want to play it safe- the mini portion is perfect for this. I’m still getting nicotine, but more importantly, I’m getting taste  …not to mention the simple, familiar and reassuring feeling of having a snus in. If you’re going to go with a mini portion, go with the best- General is far from “general” in flavor, there’s a reason they hold so much of the market- they make great snus
Two years ago almost to the day, I successfully used Swedish snus to quit smoking I would NEVER go back. I've got a product that is safe, doesn't make you smelly, and you can do it WHILE you're working! No more lost productivity on smoke breaks. I've tried the US Camel Snus, which is basically a mini portion- it's worthless, period. Only Northerner has the REAL stuff I also found that, even though I didn't smoke all that much in my opinion, I needed the sterk line rather than regular- the higher nicotine yield makes quitting much, much more comfortable.
It takes some time to really distinguish the flavors. My advice to anyone trying to quit smoking is simply to find what tastes good/works for you. Northerner offers try out boxes for that matter. After two years, trust me when I say you’ll begin to differentiate between flavors. But it’s not an elite cigar aficionado club, much of it is simple personal preference. Thus, you really can’t go wrong with snus

Good tobacco flavour, salty and fairly strong for the size, I think, with a nice steady flow of nicotine.

Whoops! Sorry about writing a review in the wrong place. My review was for the mini mint, but this General Mini Portion is great, too.
I love the regular size and this little one is what I choose when there's a need for more discretion. You can't go wrong with this snus.

I love mint and this little gem is just the thing for satisfying my mint cravings. I wish the nicotine was just a bit stronger, but I can live with it.

Perfect for when you don't have a lot of time. A half hour a great General taste.
