Go back Our Grovsnus, Portion ReviewManufactured by Swedish Match, Grovsnus Original portion was launched in 1983 as simply a tobacco flavored snus. With few ingredients, Grovsnus Original portion still remains a popular portion snus. Each can of Grovsnus Original contains 24, one gram portions with 8 mg of Nicotine each. The material that Swedish Match uses for Grovsnus Original is the same teabag type material that they use in all their portions and stays comfortable in the lip for around two hours. The can is made of gold colored plastic with metallic flakes embedded in it that gives the can a metal look. There is a used portion compartment in the lid with the Grovsnus logo embossed on the cap but, enough about the can, let’s talk about the flavor! As we said in the beginning, Grovsnus Original was launched as a purely tobacco flavored snus and used only a few ingredients. While the list is small, the ingredients are of high quality. Hand selected tobaccos from around the world mix with water, salt and a touch of smoke flavoring. What was achieved was a snus that has a smooth flavor of tobacco with a bit of salty sweetness from the smoke flavoring. Reading that a snus has a tobacco flavor can be hard to imagine what the flavor is so, to clarify it a bit, tobacco has an earthy, leafy flavor with a leathery taste. Some people will also add that there is a mossy, peaty taste as well but even these descriptions can be a bit confusing. Imagine the scent of sitting in a pile of Fall leaves with a new Baseball glove to your nose. I know it sounds silly but, that’s what we think the flavor closely resembles but, we want to know what you think! So, why not put a can of Grovsnus Original portion on your next order and leave us a review of what you taste? We’ll be looking forward to reading it!

Grov does indeed sit well next to ettan, a bolder flavour perhaps. Great with a dark real ale or a peaty whiskey. Super moist portions and I love the no nonsense packaging though it does suggest creosote rather than tobacco.

Great rich tobacco flavor. Could be a "daily driver" in its catagory. Try Grovsnus Black as well - very tasty.

This is truly an enjoyable snus! I would have given 5 stars instead of four but for one reason which I will explain...Grovsnus is a very moist portion which I really enjoy as you get the flavor right away and that flavor is pure tobacco heaven. I find myself going for this one when a sterk seems to much and i don't want anything fruity. My only complaint is that the flavor/nicotine doesn't last as long a I like it to. I generally throw in a portion and forget about it for an hour or so but this one gets old after 30-45mins. That seems like a long time when I look at it, guess I just don't want the goodness to end! A definite must try for fans of simple, solid tobacco flavor.

I'm a newcomer to Snus and had this one in my starter pack. At first I wasnt sure with the normal portions as some of the others id tried we're unpleasant with the leaking and over-salty taste. This one is one of my favourites and what i'm comparing others too. Can definately see it being a staple Snus. To any other newcomers to Snus you'll find your taste buds grow to the different flavours so make sure you try the brands several times before making an opinion.

I have about 12 cans in my refrigerator and whenever I decide to pick a Grov I am always pleasantly surprised. The pouches are quite moist. So when you want something juicy Grov will truly satisfy. Ettan in contrast feels dryer and takes more time to develop. Serious Snus.

I used to use Gustavus in the light brown can. They discontinued it, so I went to LD Gold, which was exquisite for my taste. If you dislike the various fruity flavor enhancers that detract from the pure taste of tobacco, you'll like this one. I like it better than Ettan, and I use it along with Pall Mall. Great snus.

I mostly use Ettan and thought I would mix it up with this. I chose wisely because this is very nice. Nice moist portions with a mild bergamot/citrus thing in the background, but not overpowering. Like this more than many others I've tried and will certainly be keeping this in my rotation.

As has been said before, a great snus for those who are bored by Ettan but who don't want the tang of General. I use this snus whenever I'm in that particular mood and it works great every time. Good tobacco flavor with a hint of spice that delivers a good hit. 4/5, one should definitely pick up a can no matter what style of snus is their favorite. You won't be disappointed.

Fans of ettan Should definately try this snus!! I Loved this snus. Its has a much smoother tabacco taste than ettan and none of the bitterness. There is A slight undertone of leather which although it doesn;t sound appealing is an incredible compliment to the smooth tabacco flavor. an A+ experience and in my top faves!

Grov is what took me away from Copenhagen dip. Pure tobacco taste with a slight bit of smokeyness to it. Top notch, exactly what snus should taste like!!!

I would have to say above average on this. I initially thought it was pretty close to Lucky Strike in flavor, but there is another flavor in the background that I can't put my finger on. After a second portion, I like it much more. Not disappointed, mildly impressed. Pretty bare bones on the can, 3/5 flavor 4.5/5. Lucky Strike has a better can, but style only counts for so much. Between the two, I'd pick this.

I use Grov on a regular basis. It has a great tobacco flavor and a very slight hint of citrus in there somewhere. When I first got them I was a little worried because the portions are so dark and moist. I asked around and everyone says thats how they are so don't worry. 4 stars

I like the Black portions better. Same taste but more of a kick.
If you tried the black and like that you might want to skip over this one. If you think the black is to strong or just don't like portions then you may just like this.

I had to toss this in my order just to see what all the talk was about, and I find this to be a pretty decent tasting product.

Great stuff. No-frills like Ettan, but with a more pronounced taste. If Ettan is too mellow for you, and General is too tangy, go with Grov.

Great portionsnus...one of my top portionsnus (yes, I do use loose and portion at different times)

Personally I tend to go for white portions, but dabble in original portions from time to time.
The Grovsnus original portions are, physically, like all other Swedish Match portions. And the flavour is what you would expect from Grov - tobacco, pure and simple - with a maybe a slight citrusy hint hiding in the background. The whole experience kicks off quicker with these portions than the whites, and the flavour is much more powerful. I find I mix a can of these in from time to time (the Grov Whites being my staple) depending on the sort of mood I'm in, and it can be a welcome change.
