Go back Our General Extra Sterk, Strong Portion ReviewIntroduced in 2008 and made by Swedish match AB in Göteborg, Sweden, General Ekstra Sterk portion snus is another entry in the race for the “Strongest snus in the world”. General Ekstra Sterk is classified as a an Extra Strong, regular type portion meaning that not only is the Nicotine content over 14 mg per portion, the portions go thru a final step in the manufacturing process that adds a bit more moisture the each, allowing the flavors to marry and release it faster when it’s in your lip. The material that Swedish Match uses in General Ekstra Sterk portion is the same soft material they use in all their snus which is pretty comfortable in the lip for about 2 hours. Each can contains 24, one gram portions with each having 15 mg of Nicotine. General Ekstra Sterk’s can is made of black plastic with the signature General label printed in black with grey accents. There is a used portion compartment in the lid as well but, you’re here to find out about the flavors, not the can so, on to taste! The trademark flavors of tobacco, salt and lemon, which you would expect in the General line, are also in General Ekstra Sterk but not as predominant. The main flavors here are of the hand selected tobaccos from around the world and a smoky element that’s unique to General Ekstra Sterk. This smoky flavor gives the snus a subtle sweetness that mixes well with the tobacco and lemon. The black pepper flavor is only a background taste here as well as the salt. There is a slight burn in the back of the throat but it’s from the high amount of Nicotine and is found in all snus with Nicotine levels over 14 mg. It’s not a strong burn and is really tolerable for the 30 minutes it’s there but, this is what we think. We want to know your thoughts! This one is a nice strong and not to juicy. But i prefer "Skruf strong". I was wondering can i order this to Norway and Ireland

General Extra Strong Portion is my second favourite portion snus after Nick and Johnny. The taste is good, it doesn't drip at all unless you are tasting it with your tongue all the time. 5 stars for the general extra strong portion!

caution: general ekstra stark runs (or "drips") ALOT. in fact, for the first few minutes of having a portion in, i have a hard time swallowing and it leaves brown stuff in your teeth. despite the mess, it wasn't as strong as i was expecting. a little more of a kick than your average snus, but not overwhelming. the flavor isnt what i was expecting either. the only other general ive tried is onyx so i was expecting something similar, but that's not the case with this stuff. just a pure tobacco flavor with maybe a slight hint of citrus. overall, i'd give it a 5 out of 10 and a thumbs down.

This is simply my favorite strong snus. Taste, flavor, kick - it's all there in the right amounts.

Definitely a favorite. Strong and rich, dark tobacco with citrus. I like this better than the white, but both are decent. Onyx is good too but this one seems to have more flavor to me and it surely satisfies the nicotine craving better than the other versions of General. Its a bit more juicy but thats to be expected with a regular portion. All round satisfying snus!

Got a few cans of this stuff 3 days ago along with some odens.
I am a former 2 pack a day Marb Red smoker. I have been using ES portions to very successfully quit... Anyway as compared to thunder or odens the nic hit isnt as strong but it seems to last longer(everyones body is different and absorbes nicotine differently with different snuses). The flavor is classic general (which im a fan of) its a bit more pronounced than the white portion flavor. This is a good snus for those quitting smoking I find it a bit ruff to chain all day. This is definitely going into my standard rotation though I am a big General fan. Those that like this should also try N&J little more complex taste and slightly less but faster hitting(for me) nic.

4 out of 5. First ekstra sterk ever tried and it put me a** backwards into the nearest chair. great buzz, but rough taste and smell. the smell sticks to your hands for quite a while and large, moist portions require a lot of spitting. Recommended if this is your flavor. Give it a try if you are thinking about it.

After much research on the internet, I successfully used Swedish snus to quit smoking two years ago
I would NEVER go back. I've got a product that is safe, doesn't make you smelly, and you can do it WHILE you're working! No more lost productivity on smoke breaks. I've tried the US Camel Snus, which is basically a mini portion- it's worthless, period. Only Northerner has the REAL stuff  I also found that, even though I didn't smoke all that much in my opinion, I needed the sterk line rather than regular- the higher nicotine yield makes quitting much, much more comfortable.
This snus gets two thumbs up from me due to its simple, predictable taste combined with a high nicotine content and longevity- I was in a meeting this morning and had one in for THREE HOURS. Although the nicotine may have worn off, the flavor didn’t
It takes some time to really distinguish the flavors; my advice to anyone trying to quit smoking is simply to find what tastes good/works for you. Northerner offers try out boxes for that matter. After two years, trust me when I say you’ll begin to differentiate between flavors. But it’s not an elite cigar aficionado club, much of it is simple personal preference. Thus, you really can’t go wrong with snus

This snus is a must, i had look every were for it and fainaly found it in Örebro in the middel of sweden.

good ole general. I love the general brand and the general taste -- this one is a little sweeter i've noticed, and man - what a kick --if you need help waking up in the morning some extra sterk is the way to go

This is for professionals. My first portion of this was totally unexpeted, It gave me a wicked buzz and a lot of flavor and juice. Its got that great General flavor and the b@!!s to back it up. This is for only the most manly of men. lol, but seriously, if your looking for that first time snus experience that gave you that wicked body and head buzz, two of these on each side will certainly do that, prepeare to melt into your couch for a while. Caution, not for first time users. 5 out of 5, this one is just awesome

This one is truly amazing. Has a very strong taste which lasts long. It is the Roquefort cheese of the cheese desert.
It is well balanced and you could probably use it frequently, but chance are you will save it for the moments when you really need it. In a way it is too good for casual use.

Fantastic snus! Same great General flavor profile, with a little less emphasis on the bergamot (citrus). The flavor lasts well over an hour. Not the hardest of nicotine kicks, but enough to keep you from chain-snussing them. Goes great with black coffee first thing in the morning!

Although I do like this Extra Sterk brand, I find it a little too moist. It has a tendency to 'run' more and it stains my tooth a little more than Sterk or Onyx. This is definitely one for users who do not mind the strong taste of snus throughout the whole mouth, not just under the lip. I much prefer the dry brands and will keep them there longer. I appreciate Onyx occasionally, but the extra cost does not make it a feasible every-day snus. General Sterk is the best and I'd only recommend Extra Sterk the hardened snus user.

Great snus. Comparable to General Onyx, but more of an emphasis on the peppery rather than citrus taste. Nicotine has quite a kick to it as well.
