General One Portion by Alexander Gustavsson

“Every pouch is a gift from the God of snus”

Hey guys!

Today’s review will be about the new snus, General One – that has been created together with the Swedish UFC-fighter Alexander ‘The Mauler’ Gustafsson. In my world, as a snuser, that is, by far, the absolute greatest honor you’ll ever receive. Cause all of a sudden, you are a piece of the brand that for many users, is possibly the only real selection. (And not to be forgotten, I am a huge fan of The Mauler)

So, let’s get down to business.
The can is absolutely gorgeous, and seriously deserves a High-five. It is a pretty basic design, with a big General stamp on it – Just in case you didn’t notice that it was a General can. And of course, they added Alexanders autograph on it. Sometimes, less is more. In this case, less is gold.

Once I opened the can, it hit me how similar it smells loose snus. Which I knew it means that there is not added flavors in it – just pure tobacco. And I think that, this is how a snus should smell, and hopefully taste. One thing that got my real attention was that the pouches didn’t feel like an ordinary pouch. (I will not sink in deeper on why, but Swedish Match has found a new way to create pouches for more stronger and softer pouches that makes the bag fill out a whole lot better than before. I applaud you for this) So the need for adjustments isn’t there, to be honest. Every pouch is perfect, every time. I put one in, and had it under the lip for a long time. After about 50 minutes it starts to run. And it doesn’t run that much – but the amounts are strong, and it tastes tobacco. You can have it in for almost 2 and half hours – before it’s time to put a new one in.

I’ve may have said it before, but this is my new favorite snus. I absolutely love it. It is seriously the most perfect pouch I’ve ever tasted. Every pouch is a gift from the God of snus.

However…
This is not a snus for everyone, because it is stronger than an ordinary snus. But, if you do enjoy strong snus, I absolutely recommend it. This will be my new everyday snus.

I’m giving this a .

Until next time,

Thunder Cool M

“Thunder Cool M would be great with a cold mojito!”

Thunder Cool M Chewing bags are the same brand as the Mel Oh, but this snus is mint-flavored.

It has a really strong scent of menthol, very fresh but I have to be honest, I do miss the mix of flavored mint with tobacco-scent. As soon as I pop a pouch under my lip it gets really refreshing, almost like a small ice-bag in my mouth. It stings right away, and the feeling gets to my head which I love about snus in general. As you may already know, I’m not the biggest fan of mint-flavored snus, but this hits me good.

I think the Thunder Cool M would be great with a cold mojito! It takes a good ten minutes before the nicotine really starts to kick in because the Thunder Cool M is almost numbing the lip (in a good way). After about 15 minutes I started to feel a bit of sweetness to the taste which was suprising, but I’m not really convinced that it’s a good mix. Although those are chewing bags they are not that dry, and I did not chew on them because they felt like regular snus. I had a pouch in for about 30 minutes before I felt it was enough, because the mint-taste started to fill my mouth way too much. If you like the flavor this is of course a good thing.

To sum up, I liked it at first but the taste just takes over the nice refreshing taste which is pretty sad.

Gustavus Slim Cut Blue

“Boy, was I in for a surprise!”

Gustavus Slim Cut Blue

I waited eagerly for my first review can to come in the mail, and was excited when they finally arrived. I eagerly opened my package and was greeted by a new face. A handsome can, white as the driven snow, emblazoned with a large blue S on it.I’m not familiar with the Gustavus brand nor any of their products, so I was looking forward to trying something new.

Now, to be fair, in the United States, there seems to be a default color-coding of flavors. It goes something like this:

Green – any generic “mint” flavor, but usually spearmint. Occasionally wintergreen.
Blue – Peppermint
Red – Cinnamon
Orange – Orange or some citrus-y variant

That being said, I, in my limited mindset, assumed what I was getting was a slim minty portion.

Boy, was I in for a surprise. I cracked open the can and discovered a scent that was both familiar and yet new. I’ve had the classic snus flavoring before, that bergamot-infused tobacco aroma. There’s definitely some of that in the aroma here, but with the Slim Blue it’s that (or a mind trick) plus an added floral/herbal scent that fills the nose with memories of a fresh spring day. Although I am a huge mint fan by default, I’m always open to new things, so I couldn’t wait to try this.

The portions are incredibly soft to the touch, and being white portions they are quite dry as well. Placing one in the lip is a sensory joy. It goe in easily, and the size plus the softness of the portion make adjustments in the lip completely unnecessary.

The nicotine is mild, at least to me. There’s no “rush” you’d get with a strong snus. Rather, it comes to you gently over the course of five to ten minutes. The flavor does remind me of that classic snus mix I mentioned before, but the juniper in the mix also smacks of a good gin. It’s present, and you know it’s there, but it’s also not bludgeoning you with its flavor. Overall, the flavor is quite pleasant and a nice change from what I normally use. Being one who likes to keep a portion in while I work, I found that I could handle a coffee or other beverage without the need to remove the portion. I kept my portions in for about 90 minutes on average before the drip made me need to remove it.

If you’re a fan of the bergamot snus flavoring, you’d really enjoy Gustavus Slim Blue. It’s familiar but just different enough to make it a refreshing change.
While it doesn’t click with my preferences, I can spot a good thing when I see it. It might not make its way into my favorites, but I can honestly say that I enjoyed this as something off the beaten path I tread, something that reminds me that good snus isn’t limited to just what you prefer, but can be found in unexpected places.

Thunder Liq+

“great from the moment I opened the can”

So today I’m gonna to be reviewing the Thunder Liq+ chewing bags for you all.

First of all I want to say don’t be scared to try Nordic chew/ chewing bags because they are pretty much identical to portion snus! So go on and try them.

Right so the Liq+ chew was great from the moment I opened the can, when I opened up the can I was greeted with the nicest aroma of licorice you can imagine with slight tobacco notes coming through after a few moments.

The taste was super you get a very nice and strong licorice taste from the start (but not to overpowering) after about 15 minutes I could start to taste the tobacco more then the licorice but it was still great.

I have always found that with Nordic chew the flavors seem to last a bit longer, I mean this particular one was still good about an hour and 15 minutes later and the dripping takes a lot longer to start I didn’t notice a single drip until about 45 minutes had gone by.

I really enjoyed the Thunder Liq+ and will definitely be getting it again.

Jakobsson’s Ultra Strong Chew Bags Original

“this one was a badass”

Hi guys!

It’s time to review another can of Jakobsson’s – the cans with many faces but each one is representative of the brand – brilliant. This one is called Jakobsson’s Ultra Strong Chew Bags Original, so to be honest, I was really looking forward to this one. Cause let’s face it, not every snus called and are supposed to be strong is not actually really that strong. So this one is Ultra Strong – like the strongest snus I’ve ever tasted. And it’s also a chewing bag.

So, let the dice roll.
Once I opened the can, I was almost stunned of the smell of tobacco. It was strong. Really strong. And the pouches are thick packed, so the adjustments are minimal for fitting under the lip.  And they are really moist, so the excitement for trying it out is halfway up to the atmosphere (haha!)

I putted a pouch under the lip, and it just rested under there. The fact that it just lays there, I forgot actually that it was there. So after about 45 minutes it started to run, and the flavour is pleasant and nice, not actually that strong (for now). But after another 15 minutes the ultra strong aspect kicked in. And take this sentence for real: this is one of the strongest snus I have ever tasted, in my whole life. To be honest with you, I had it in for another 45 minutes, and it was running a lot, so I had to put it out. I knew that this one was a pouch you have phase in, step by step.

So after having snusing up half the can, I know felt ready to try on to chew it. A began to chew it lightly, and after just a few minutes it began to run. And it runned about an hour and a half, then it slowed town it’s tempo.

I’m not recommending this snus for anyone that doesn’t have the experience of strong snus – cause seriously, this one was a badass.

I’m giving it a

Best regards
Robin

Nordic Storm Slim White Original

“a refined taste and solid nicotine kick”

I will admit that I have never experienced the weather in northern Europe. I am not sure if Nordic Storm Slim White Original Snus’s name is attempting to invoke a comparison to a city-flattening hurricane or a light summer drizzle. Is JTI Sweden comparing their tobacco to a cold winter blizzard? Is there enough menthol in a pouch to numb my face? I assumed that Nordic Storms were apocalyptic, ice-laden events, and prepared myself for the most intense tobacco experience ever conceived.

It ended up being a pretty typical snus with traditional bergamot flavors, and really nothing about the experience made me think of a storm, cold weather, hot weather, wind, rain, or any other meteorological condition. Those seeking insight into Nordic weather are better off using Google that trying this snus. Still, I am extremely impressed with this snus. It is a modestly priced, white-pouched tobacco that can function as a daily go-to snus, yet has a refined taste and solid nicotine kick that make it competitive with more expensive snus.

As mentioned, the snus is a traditionally-flavored with bergamot and has a deep tobacco taste that plays well with the citrus. I found that the flavor developed during the experience; after about fifteen minutes a peppery flavor developed that was very enjoyable. Even though this snus is flavorful, the taste never overwhelms your senses and wouldn’t ruin, or be ruined by, a morning cup of coffee.

This is a strong snus, and it gives a solid nicotine punch. The first touch of nicotine rush in almost immediately, hits a solid peak about five minutes in, and gradually decreases. Impressively, the nicotine feel lasted a lengthy thirty minutes.  It is a solid nicotine punch, but it is not mood altering or overwhelming; it’s a good morning pick-me-up, but maybe not the snus you turn to before wrestling a bear.

While I still have no insight into the weather conditions of the Nordic countries after using this snus, would personally recommend this snus to anyone that enjoys traditionally flavored snus. Overall, it is refined, strong, and carries an excellent price. Given the quality of this snus and its modest price, I easily give this snus an

Offroad Original CB

“Subtle, yet firmly present and comfortable”

The CB (chew bag) concept seems to be really hitting it on in smokeless tobacco industry. What does that mean for us, regular snus users? Frankly, I’m great with it (I use it mostly as snus) since the majority of CB products seem to be either strong or extra strong. If you are a snus starter, these might not be just right for you to start off with, just due to nicotine amount. There is not much difference between CB and regular snus except the cut. But let’s get to the real topic today, which is Offroad’s Original CB.

First thing that can catch your glimpse is the flavor. If you inspect the product description, you will notice the traditional tobacco flavor with hints of lemon and bergamont. This is a pretty much a failsafe combo, and you can’t go wrong with it. Bergamont and lemon go along perfectly, and imbue it into quality tobacco aroma, you have a damn good product on the spot!

The tobacco in portions feels quite dry, which automatically reminded me of dry snus, that was a big plus from my side (I’m a sucker for dry snus in any form or flavor). That being said, I know I have already tried something similar before, and I believe it was also Offroad’s Gold White Dry. The similarity is remarkable, wether we are talking about taste or aroma. Another big plus if you want to switch a snuser to CB way of life.

Upon opening the can, you won’t get blasted away by any hard scents, but rather a comfortable smell of lemony tobacco with a drop of bergamont (and pepper if I am correct, but don’t hold me on spot for that). If I had to describe it in my own words, I’d say it’s a „gentleman perfume in a can“. Nothing too strong, nothing mild, just a right amount. Subtle, yet firmly present and comfortable. The CB taste comes in slowly, it takes its time, and evolves from a slight peppery lemon taste to a bergamont aroma in your nasal cavity, which is really a wonder for your smell receptors.

Offroad Original CB has a huge plus over all white dry snus I have tried, and that is the life-span of a bag. This thing easily kicks for 2 hours, up to 2.5 hours, without losing the taste, and that is another huge plus! Now, since there is no product which is actually flawless, the only flaw in this one I have noticed is the nicotine strength. Nicotine intensitiy is more of a regular, even though they seem even on the light side, but not as light as other snus with same nicotine amount.

All in all, I can not say you will go wrong with this product, it’s definitely a thing to try out, especially if you need a product which will get you used to CB. Offroad Original CB is on spot, and stands firmly with

Ink X-treme Tropic – Nordic Chew

“it’s really hard not to call it snus when you see it”

It’s always fun to experiment with tropical fruits and aromas, especially during the summer, and INK’s X-Treme Tropic original is on the menu today!

The all dark packing looks more menacing than the product inside, which can be noticed immediately after opening the can and smelling the light melon aroma. There is no punch in any specific smell, no strong overtaking from the tobacco, nor anything else to be honest, you just have that light, breezy melon sniff with some tropical and mango background. But is that it? Definitely not! Here is the fun part, it’s chewing tobacco! Well… Modern version of chewing tobacco; we don’t want to be walking around with spittoons, now do we? It’s long cut tobacco packed in pouches, and it’s really hard not to call it snus when you see it.
I received the can with a lot of questions in my head, and I was quite reserved to it. Will it be good? How can this work? Won’t I chew through the portion?
First one was really tricky. Since I’m used to regular snus, I forgot to chew it. Second one, I had to remind myself to do it (thank got we have reminders on our phones)… Now I understand the light aroma and light smell while opening the can. You actually need to work your way to the sweet nectar inside! Boy oh boy… A few light chews, and the aroma, the juice, and the nicotine runs out. Watch out though, you will feel that nicotine kicking in really good after chewing – that’s where you really notice it’s a proper xtreme product, not some regular or strong.
The only down side is the aroma duration, which goes up to 40-50 minutes. There are worse aroma duration products out there, but you would really want this one to last at least an hour and a half after you start to play with it.
This is my first chewing bags product, and I will not let it be my last. I’m glad my doubts were quickly resolved positively when it comes to taste and nicotine; but please, give us some more enduring aroma. It’s a shame to use it for an hour, when you could easily play with it for at least 1.5 – 2 hours without even noticing.

The overall grade could be higher if we had longer taste, so let’s give it a and let’s hope the grade will make them think about it.

Knox Klassisk White

“SOMETHING ORDINARY THAT MAKES US HAPPY”

This snus is pretty straight forward. What you see, smell and taste is what you get. Just as it says on the box, it’s your typical classic snus.
I read somewhere that the Knox classic white is the stronger sibling of the Knox white family, but as I have never tried Knox before I cannot confirm it. I would say that it’s pretty strong but not too strong to handle. The taste is clean and traditional tobacco, would go really well with a neat whisky or a strong cup of coffee. And beacause it’s a white pouch it will not run even if you’re having a drink with it. The nicotine kicks in after about 10-15 minutes, pretty normal as well.

To sum up, this snus is for people who appreciate the common and sturdy things in life. There’s nothing extraordinary about this snus but it gives you what you want. And isn’t that what we all dream of? Something ordinary that makes us happy.

Tre Ankare White Portion

“it takes you to a place where only hard sailors and heavy storms exist”

Tre Ankare White Portion

I went to the store the other day in search for some good snus but I wasn’t up for trying some new stuff, I wanted something I was familiar with.
Hence I looked over the counter and saw one of my favorite snus that I haven’t had for quite some while now…. Tre Ankare.

The red text that is fitted onto the green background, with the gold looking edges gives the snus a great classic look.
Upon opening the can you can feel the great smell of a smokey aroma hitting your nose. The bags looks juicy and not as dry as you’d expect a white snus to be.

Once you place the first bag under your lip it takes you to a different place, a place where only hard sailors and heavy storms exist. The feeling of the snus basically takes you back to that early 1900’s when everyone was working at the docks and the evenings consisted of moonshine and snus.

It doesn’t take long until the unique taste hits your tastebuds, at first you will feel the taste of smokey cedar and after approximately 10 minutes, once the snus has done it’s little trick, you can feel the nicotine hit you mixed with tastes of different herbs. The bag gets a bit more moisture than the rest of the snus brands, which for me is something I enjoy. The tobacco taste is there but you can only feel hints of it due to the strong taste of cedar and herbs.
After about 30 minutes in, you can feel that the experience you’ve had is coming to an end, the bag is a bit shrinked up, the taste is fading and the nicotine has taken it’s toll

Tre Ankare is the most classic portionssnus out there, it’s the first portionssnus ever made and should definatly be tested by all snus lovers.

So to all you hipsters, classic snus lovers and tryouts out there, this is the snus for you. A classic, tasteful and amazing experience.
