Built From Feedback: Northerner Pouch Subscription
In April 2026, Northerner asked its customers to share how they currently approach repeat purchases, what they would value from a subscription, and what might make them think twice about signing up.
The results made one thing clear: a subscription needs to fit into an existing routine rather than make that routine feel more complicated.
Taken together, the survey results helped shape the current Northerner Subscription service around the idea that repeat ordering should feel predictable, valuable and easy to manage for adult customers who already know which eligible products they prefer.

It Often Starts With "I'm Running Low"
Think about the last time you ran low on something you buy regularly. The need to reorder often shows up at the most inconvenient moments, turning a familiar purchase into another task on an already full list.
Our survey reflected that behavior. Running low was the most frequently selected reason to reorder, cited by 30% of respondents, ahead of concerns like running low on a preferred product.
For adult nicotine users aged 21+ who already know which eligible products they prefer, that provided an important insight: repeat ordering could become more predictable.
Rather than waiting until it is time to remember another purchase, a Northerner Subscription places eligible repeat orders on a regular 2 or 4-week schedule.
Convenience Was Only Part of the Story
Customers also told us that automating an order wasn't enough.
When asked what they valued in a subscription, 40% of respondents selected receiving a discount from the standard non-subscription price, making it a top value driver in the survey.
Those priorities helped shape the subscription experience around the customer expectation that there would be clear price benefits and fewer added costs at renewal.
Northerner subscribers currently receive 30% off their first eligible subscription order and 5% off future subscription orders based on the standard non-subscription price on the renewal date. Free standard shipping is also included with subscription orders.
Customers Wanted to Know They Were Still in Control
One of the most useful parts of asking customers directly was learning what they didn't want from a subscription.
The most frequently selected barrier was “hard to cancel,” cited by 36% of respondents.
That feedback points to a broader expectation: automatic ordering should not mean losing visibility over what is happening.
Cancellation: You may cancel your subscription at any time online through the Subscriptions’ tab in the ‘My Pages’ section of Northerner.com. To prevent your next renewal order from being processed, you must cancel at least 24 hours before your Renewal Date. If you cancel after that cutoff, your cancellation will apply to later renewal orders, but the pending order may still be processed, except where applicable law requires otherwise. We will confirm your cancellation by email. If you choose to cancel your first Subscription Program enrollment and later enroll again, you will not receive another introductory first-shipment discount.
Skip or Pause deliveries: Have enough pouches stocked? Skip your next delivery or pause your subscription from your account. You don't have to cancel.
A Schedule Backed by Results
The research also showed that customers preferred a subscription cadence that felt familiar and easy to plan around.
Monthly delivery was the most-selected cadence in the survey, favored by 40% of respondents.
Northerner’s current subscription schedule renews every 2 or 4 weeks, giving adult customers who already purchase the same eligible products regularly a consistent automated ordering process.
Importantly, that is a renewal schedule rather than a guaranteed delivery date. Actual delivery timing can vary depending on shipping and order-processing conditions.
Built Around a Routine That Already Exist
Customers showed interest in subscription, but their answers also explained what would make that interest meaningful: timely reordering, confidence that they could stay in control, and always get the lowest price compared to the standard non-subscription price.
That helped us approach subscription not only as automatic ordering, but as a way of fitting a regular purchase into an existing routine while keeping important information visible to the customer.
For adult nicotine users aged 21+ who already know which eligible products they prefer, Northerner Subscription offers a way to make repeat purchases more predictable while keeping key renewal information visible—and gives Northerner a service it can keep improving around customer needs as we continue to listen to customer feedback.
