How to Pack Dip?

So you want to pack a can of dip but don’t know where to start? This beginner’s guide will walk you through some of the most important steps to take before, during and after packing dip.

But first, let’s discuss some dip basics, like what it actually is. Dip, or dipping tobacco, is a form of tobacco that requires consumers to spit out saliva. This is because dip is fermented and swallowing these tobacco juices can end in an upset stomach. Unlike chewing tobacco, dip doesn’t actually require any chewing since the saliva naturally extracts the juices from the tobacco.

How to Pack a Can of Dip Easily

To pack your can of dip, place the can against your middle and index finger while using your thumb to hold the bottom of the can. As you hold the can, relax your index finger and move the can up and down in a fluid vertical motion, allowing your index finger to firmly tap the top of the can. Repeat this motion several times to ensure that your can of dip is ready for use.

There’s also another similar and very common way to pack dip. Method 2 requires you to place the side of the dip can against the crease of your hand. Firmly hold the can with your middle and ring finger while using your thumb to hold the bottom of the can. If needed, your pinky can be placed against the bottom side of the can to provide additional support. Similar to the first method, relax your index finger and move the can up and down in a fluid vertical motion and allow your index finger to fimly tap the side of the dip can. Repeat this packing motion several times to ensure that your can of dip is ready for use.

Now that your dip is packed, you are ready to place the dip in your mouth. To open your can, place your thumb firmly against the upper lid of the can and gently slide your thumb across the seam until the lid is removed. Make sure your dip can is completely sealed before using it. After breaking the seal, use your fingers to gently pry open the lid. Once open, always make sure to check that your dip is moist and fresh. This will allow you maximum enjoyment throughout your dip experience.

How to Pack Dip Without Fingers

Did you know you can pack a can of dip without using your index finger? This packing method is just as effective and will help prevent your fingers from getting sore. First, place your fingers on top of the lid of the can and firmly place your thumb against the bottom of the can. While holding the can, find a hard surface and carefully tap the side of the can against the surface several times to ensure that your dip is packed and ready for use.

How to Pack Dip in Your Mouth

Now that you have learned your packing method options, it’s finally time to enjoy your dip of choice! Gently take a small pinch of tobacco using your index finger and thumb. If this is your first time dipping, only pull out a small amount to assess your tolerance to nicotine. Place the dip between your gum and cheek on the left or right side of your lower lip and pack the contents firmly with your finger so that your dip remains in place.

As you let the tobacco sit in your mouth, your gums will absorb the nicotine into your bloodstream. While enjoying your dip you will occasionally need to get rid of the excess saliva that is mixed with the tobacco. It is always helpful to have a small container on hand to spit your excess into at your convenience. A simple empty water bottle will do the trick.

You can enjoy your dip until the nicotine is fully absorbed and no longer provides a sensation. Make sure to throw out the tobacco in the nearest trash can. Most importantly, when you are done with your dipping session, make sure to wash your mouth out with clean water to remove any remaining tobacco residue.
